What Happens at a lactation consultation?

​THE MILC GROUP offers lactation consultations with an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant in your home .  

During the breastfeeding consultation, we will provide:

• Family-centered compassionate care
• A  breast assessment
• An infant oral anatomy and sucking assessment
• Latching and positioning assistance
• Tools and tips to help you breastfeed more easily
• An evaluation of the amount of milk the baby receives at the breast (if needed) also known as a pre and post feed weight check
• A treatment plan developed with your input to help you reach your breastfeeding goals (not ours)
• Answers to any breastfeeding questions
• Referrals and resources in your area as needed
• A receipt for the service that includes the diagnostic codes required by insurance companies for insurance reimbursement
• A report for your and your doctor(s)' records
